The meeting\u2019s objective was to share progress, exchange ideas, and plan <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">f<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">uture steps.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Exploring the latest progress <\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2a27159 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"2a27159\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0038e5e e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"0038e5e\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8eaf9c6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8eaf9c6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting with<\/span><b> MIR-PIB,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conducted a survey spanning six countries, where more than 6,000 respondents provided valuable insights into the dynamics of consumer decision-making regarding food choices. The survey\u2019s ultimate goal is to understand the factors driving consumer preferences, particularly related to plant-based products and a report of its findings will be ready in July 2024. Preliminary findings suggest that different factors influence consumer behavior across various demographic groups.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the same light, co-creation workshops have been initiated to foster collaboration and innovation in the development of plant-based products. They are using ultrasounds and microwaves to extract chitin and chitosan from shrimp shells and are also working on optimizing protein recovery from fish waste. TCD is exploring the separation and extraction of valuable components from processing water samples using membrane filtration techniques which can then be used to cultivate duckweeds at UCC. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9a33ffb e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"9a33ffb\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dc25b15 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"dc25b15\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b1eefe3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b1eefe3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/anfaco.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>ANFACO<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is focusing on extracting and characterizing components from octopus cooking water, evaluating its suitability for microalgae cultivation and valuable ingredient recovery.<\/span><\/p><p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/angaztech.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANGAZ<\/a> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has started preparing for the Life Cycle Assessment that will be conducted on the project\u2019s novel ingredients, processes and products.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucc.ie\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>UCC<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is working on physicochemical characterization of seafood processing waters to optimize duckweed cultivation, comparing growth in different side streams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>ESHKOL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is using supercritical fluid extraction to isolate sterols and lipophilic compounds from Lemna, a type of duckweed<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5eff920 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5eff920\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a5324b0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a5324b0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Innovative and sustainable packaging solutions are also at the core of the IMPRESS Project. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tcd.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>TCD<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been investigating the thermal stability and antifungal properties of fucoidan and laminarin-based packaging materials.
