What have IMPRESS partners been up to?

Partners have been busy promoting the project and building the IMPRESS community over the past six months.

  • IMPRESS and the HE projects INNOAQUA and NOVAFOODIES were invited by the project officer of projects funded under the innovative food from marine and freshwater ecosystems topic to discuss potential means of collaboration. During the meeting, the project coordinators, including Brijesh K. Tiwari (TEAGASC), introduced their projects, and discussed their goals, and potential venues for collaboration. 
  • TCD, along with the AMBER Centre, co-hosted the Materials Helix Event where participants had the opportunity to interact with stakeholders and spread the word about the IMPRESS initiative and their role in it. 
  • ANFACO organized an event titled “Disruption and Innovation in the Marine and Food Industry” which focused on the concepts of hybridization, circularity, decarbonization, and the digital revolution. These concepts are crucial components of the industry’s future. During the event, Jesús Fidel Delgado Ramallo from NEOALGAE gave a comprehensive presentation on the IMPRESS project.
  • Ariadna Mato Montero represented ANFACO at the “Blue Atlantic Forum BAF 2024” held at Parador de Baiona, Galicia, Spain. The event sought to promote sustainability and economic development through the responsible use of marine resources.
  • Maria-Jose Chapela Garrido represented ANFACO and presented the IMPRESS at the Network of Food for Life Technology Platforms meeting, at the Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries’ ALIBER 2024. The event aimed to explore innovative solutions for a sustainable future in the food and beverage sector.
  • Kona Mondal, from TCD, presented IMPRESS to an audience of 40 students at the AMBER Primary School Facilitator Workshop held at St. Vincent’s Primary School in Glasnevin, Dublin as part of its Education and Public Engagement  activities.
  • COMEX showcased their innovative and sustainable packaging approach, which includes biodegradable polymer composites, at the “Innovations in Logistics and Production, Science-Business Cooperation, in Poland.
  • IMPRESS coordinator Brijesh K. Tiwari shared initial insights from the project at the Blue Economy workshop titled ‘Fostering collaboration between research and Industry for shell waste utilization towards the realization of a circular blue economy’ held at the Growth Hub, SETU Waterford Campus.
