On Friday, September 25, 2026, the IMPRESS project joined the Pomeranian scientific community at the Gdynia Aquarium for the annual Pomeranian Researchers\u2019 Night. As part of a grassroots science outreach initiative organized by universities and scientific institutions across the Pomerania region, the event brought cutting-edge research directly to the public under this year\u2019s core theme, “Research4Resilience.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pomeranian Researchers\u2019 Night provided a unique opportunity for scientists to step away from their daily laboratory routines and open their work to people of all ages, ranging from children, youth, and adults. Designed to make science accessible, interactive, and inspiring, the event featured dozens of activities spanning exact sciences, medical sciences, biological sciences, psychology, and the humanities. Attendees participated in hands-on scientific demonstrations, laboratory tours, workshops, lectures, and interactive competitions aimed at igniting curiosity and showcasing the joy of discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advancing Resilience Through Circular Solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Research4Resilience” theme served as an ideal backdrop for the IMPRESS project, whose work directly addresses environmental durability and resource efficiency. In a welcoming and interactive setting, researchers demonstrated how analytical thinking and sustainable innovation can solve critical ecological challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of the evening, the event recorded 538 total visitors. Among them, more than 75 young consumers were directly engaged and formally informed by project experts Dr. Eng. Olga Szulecka and Marcin Rakowski from the National Marine Fisheries Research Institute (MIR-PIB), alongside Christopher Kennard from reframe.food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This educational outreach is a core component of the IMPRESS project’s broader mission to map the socio-economic and scientific landscape of marine and freshwater ecosystems. A fundamental driver behind the project is the recognition that a successful transition to a sustainable blue economy relies on understanding consumer values and reshaping societal expectations around aquatic foods. To build truly resilient food systems, the project aims to stimulate future market demand for sustainable, low-trophic seafood by actively engaging the next generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To achieve this goal, IMPRESS has rolled out an extensive, multinational educational campaign spanning eight countries. By utilizing interactive platforms like the Pomeranian Researchers’ Night, researchers can step out of the lab to connect directly with the public. Through these efforts, the project is actively working to educate and empower more than 300 young consumers across Europe. During these sessions, experts guide youth through vital topics such as the shift from a linear to a circular economy, the nutritional benefits of aquatic organisms, and the development of intelligent, biodegradable food packaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
