The Horizon Europe-funded IMPRESS project is making headway with a productive spring, noting significant advancements and active engagement in key EU policy discussions. From innovations in sustainable packaging and digital traceability to strategic meetings and high-level policy forums, IMPRESS continues to contribute to the future of resilient aquatic food systems across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3rd Annual IMPRESS Consortium Meeting<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On April 24\u201325, 2025, IMPRESS partners gathered at ANFACO-CECOPESCA<\/a>\u2019s headquarters in Vigo, Spain, for the 3rd Annual Consortium Meeting. This was an invaluable opportunity for the consortium to reflect on progress, exchange knowledge, and define next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting highlights included:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trinity College Dublin<\/a> unveiled their biodegradable packaging solutions and protective films, advancing the project\u2019s sustainability goals. These innovations build on their successful scale-up of biodegradable polymer composites and blend formulations, processed into sheets and thin films using advanced extrusion facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comex<\/a> presented their cutting-edge NFC Tracker Chip, reinforcing the project’s commitment to digital traceability and transparency in aquatic food chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March, IMPRESS joined a high-level policy dialogue with key EU institutions, including DG MARE (Maritime Affairs and Fisheries), DG RTD (Research & Innovation), EU Environment and Climate, and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The discussions focused on shaping the future of sustainable aquatic food systems in the EU, with particular attention to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
