Last week, our partners at SINTEF Ocean presented the IMPRESS project at Nor-Fishing 2026 in Trondheim, Norway. The event provided a valuable platform for sharing the project’s objectives and engaging with different audiences on the future of marine resource utilization.
On 11 June 2026, 52 young participants gathered at Starli Amusement Park in Novi Sad for two interactive workshops organised by the Children’s Environmental Academy, the Institute of Food Technology in Novi Sad, University of Novi Sad (FINS), and the IMPRESS project.

Every year, seafood processing generates large amounts of waste. In shrimp production, only about 40% of the biomass is edible, leaving millions of tons of shells as by-products. Yet these shells contain valuable compounds such as chitin, which can be converted into chitosan, a biopolymer widely used in food packaging industries, biomedical materials, and environmental applications.
Representatives from the IMPRESS project participated in the educational activity Circus Science by the Sea on Saturday, 6 June 2026, at Aghleam Townland, County Mayo. The event was organised by Circus250 with support from Research Ireland.
