IMPRESS jointly with, Marie Skłodowska-Curie projects, FEEDACTIVE (grant agreement No 101086261) and VALIAS (grant agreement No 101131441) participated in the European Commission’s Horizon Results Booster (HRB) initiative by submitting their relevant results within Module A. HRB’s module A aims to Identifying and creating the portfolio of research and innovation project results. During this joint initiative between the three projects, complementarity between the tackled issues was made evident as was the significance of projects showing that the “deep blue” has a lot to offer.
FEEDACTIV focuses on the development of innovative aquaculture feed supplements based on natural bioactive compounds that boost the immune system and exhibit antioxidant and antimicrobial activity. VALIAS, on the other hand, aims to create a Win-Win solution via the exploitation of invasive alien species for both European fisheries and companies active in the sector of aquaculture, nutrition, and cosmetology.
Following the premise of collaboration between projects and expanding the results of these projects, on May 24, 2024, the EU4 Algae initiative launched its database designed to consolidate and categorise projects funded by various EU programs, offering a detailed overview of algae research and development initiatives. Initiatives like these, allow for the furthering of relevant research and development and play into the future of both the blue sector and the food industry.
