Last week, our partners at SINTEF Océano presented the IMPRESS project at Nor-Fishing 2026 in Trondheim, Norway. The event provided a valuable platform for sharing the project’s objectives and engaging with different audiences on the future of marine resource utilization.
Held from 18 to 20 August, Nor-Fishing is one of the world’s largest fisheries technology exhibitions and has served as an important national and international meeting place for the sector since 1960. The 2026 edition welcomed visitors from 60 countries and brought together industry representatives, researchers and students. With the final day designated as Student Day, the event provided an especially fitting setting for IMPRESS’s educational outreach.
On 19 August, Revilija Mozuraityte presented the project during the seminar “Sustainable Utilization of Underutilized Marine Resources.” The presentation highlighted how IMPRESS is exploring innovative and sustainable opportunities for marine resources that are currently overlooked or insufficiently utilized.
IMPRESS’s participation continued on 20 August with a dedicated educational session for 21 young attendees. Led by SINTEF Ocean, the session introduced participants to the project’s research and encouraged them to consider how marine resources can be managed and used more responsibly. Informative brochures were also distributed, allowing participants to continue exploring the project’s work after the session.
Through accessible examples and discussion, participants were encouraged to view marine resources not as an unlimited supply, but as valuable resources that should be used responsibly and as fully as possible. The session also highlighted the role of research and innovation in developing more sustainable food systems and reducing waste across marine value chains.
The session forms part of IMPRESS’s wider educational activities across partner countries and beyond. By connecting research with education and public engagement, the project aims to raise awareness, share knowledge and inspire young people to contribute to a more sustainable future.
