On the evening of September 25, 2026, from 18:00 to 23:00, the Institut national de recherche sur les pêches maritimes (MIR-PIB) et le Gdynia Aquarium will host and present a dedicated sustainable food science showcase during the fourth edition of Pomeranian Researchers’ Night (Pomorska Noc Naukowców).
The interactive event will highlight cutting-edge research from the EU-funded Horizon Europe project IMPRESS (impress-he.eu), with supporting communication and engagement provided by project communications partner reframe.food.
Since its launch in 2023, Pomeranian Researchers’ Night has brought science out of the lab and into the community. As part of their shared educational mission, the organizers invite children, teenagers, and young adults to explore how marine and bio-economy innovations are reshaping modern, resilient, and eco-friendly food systems.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Conscious Consumers
Today’s youth are more attuned to climate issues and sustainability than ever, yet the journey of innovative, resilient foods from laboratory to table remains largely unseen. At the Gdynia Aquarium, MIR-PIB researchers, supported by the IMPRESS project team and reframe.food, will turn complex bio-economy research into a hands-on, accessible experience designed specifically for school-age visitors and families.
“Connecting young audiences with active food science isn’t just about education, it’s about empowering the next generation of conscious consumers,” said Christopher Kennard, Project Communications Manager of IMPRESS. “Pomeranian Researchers’ Night gives us a unique platform to show how lab innovations directly protect our oceans and food security.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Interact directly with marine scientists and researchers: Ask questions about future food sources, ocean health, and how marine ecosystems contribute to global nutrition.
- Explore sensory demonstrations: Experience hands-on displays illustrating sustainable ingredient processing, minimal processing techniques, and circular food production.
- Understand the science behind food choices: Discover how daily consumer habits directly impact marine environments and global biodiversity.
By meeting active scientists in the vibrant atmosphere of the Gdynia Aquarium, younger visitors will gain practical insights into conscious eating while exploring future academic and professional pathways in marine biology, food science, and sustainability.

By uniting cutting-edge science, immersive venues, and creative storytelling, this partnership bridges the gap between high-level research and everyday understanding. IMPRESS provides the Horizon Europe bio-economy science, MIR-PIB and the Gdynia Aquarium supply an engaging real-world marine backdrop for public education, and reframe.food translates complex technical concepts into accessible, youth-focused narratives. Together, these complementary strengths transform dense data into an interactive, memorable experience that truly resonates with the next generation of consumers.
Admission to Pomeranian Researchers’ Night events at the Gdynia Aquarium is free and open to the public. Families, educators, and youth groups are warmly encouraged to attend between 18:00 and 23:00 to experience science outside the textbook.
